Some Church Activities

  Harvest Weekend - 2004

Harvest is usually celebrated with a strong theme. Many people of all ages contribute to the floral and other displays. The chapel is decorated on the Friday; there is a Coffee Morning on the Saturday, and worship on the Sunday morning.

A celebration of life and work

There are some unlikely 'flowers' in this display! Can you spot the caulis, broccoli and kiwi fruit?

Sheep are all around us. We once had a whole harvest all about sheep!

  Smarber Weekend 2005

The site of our original chapel building is up on the hillside above Low Row at a place called Smarber (see history page), where the walls of the old chapel are still standing but not the roof.

The present day church holds a service here once a year. In recent years this Smarber Service has been held on the Friday evening of the early May Bank Holiday weekend. So we expect the next Smarber Service to be held on Friday May 2nd 2008 at 7.00pm in the ruins of the old chapel. Only if the weather is really bad will we move to our present day chapel on the road and with a roof. Everyone interested is most welcome to attend.

  Smarber Weekend 2000

The Smarber Service in 2000 was held on Friday April 28th and was led by a previous minister and then Synod Moderator, the Rev Peter Poulter.

In 1999 our then Moderator, the Rev David Jenkins, led worship with a congregation of nearly 40 people present.
