From the official brochureWhitwell Hall Country Centre is situated in the heart of Norfolk, in a predominately arable farming area, thirteen miles north-west of Norwich. The Centre is owned by Forest School (1938) Ltd, an organisation registered under the Educational Charities Act. The hall stands in forty acres of parkland wet meadows and woods, and with its varied habitat provides a setting for a very wide range of activities. In addition to camping and canoeing activities, groups use the estate for woodland projects, wildlife and pond studies, historical projects, nature trails, orienteering, backwoods cooking, art and craft work, outdoor sculpture, raft building, bridge-building, campfires, team exercises and a wide variety of games. Each campsite has a covered hard area with a central wood-fire, cooking grid and its own water supply. Tents are available on site - ridge tents sleeping four to five people, and a range of smaller tents. Washing and toilet facilities are located in permanent buildings in the grounds. A drying room is available for wet clothing. There are two permanent campfire circles, and a wooded area containing rope swings and scrambling nets. | |
